We love collaboration brews here at CLB. Our friends at Beerhead asked if we would be interested in joining forces with them to create a deliciously hoppy Black IPA. Of course we would! Just like that Midnight Rambler was born. The goal was to make “The one you have never seen before.” Pine and citrus notes mingle with hints of coffee and chocolate in the nose. Sweet caramel is there as well. A sip reveals layers of roast characteristics, dark chocolate, and spice. The massive hop dose appears again bringing with it a very firm bitterness and darker hop flavors.

Chalice of Malice is an English Barley Wine brewed with Maris Otter, English Caramel Malts, and English yeast, but we added some American hops to spice things up a bit. The Amarillo and Centennial hops add a fruity American touch to a sweet, sticky, plump body. This one isn’t for the faint of heart!

We brewed a Kolsch style earlier in the year with Smylie Bros. Brewing Co. and lagered it properly. This beer is one of the lightest style of ales and Smylie Bros. are one of the brightest of breweries with back-to-back medals from GABF in 2016 – 2017.

Brewed in collaboration with BeerHead Bar, this German style Kölsch is oh so drinkable. As an ale/lager hybrid, it’s crisp and refreshing with a delicate balance of soft malt, light fruity notes, and a touch of German Tettnanger hops.

We brewed a Belgian style tripel and added red currants for a slight tart flavor to an already sweet and subtly spicy body.

3HB was honored to partake in the most ambitious event to date for The Beer Market Rochester. February 1 is the Colab AF event in which they partnered up with breweries big and small to put together a month-long celebration of collaboration libations. For one of our contribution, we brewed up a big Belgian Tripel ale and added a copious amount of black current puree and blueberry concentrate to create a potent and unique tasting experience. The result is a new twist on a classic style lending tart berry flavors that combine with zesty, spicy character and a dry finish. Brewed with love along with Chateau Pils, Carafoam and Carahell malts; Blue Bell Nugget and Hallertauer Mittelfruh Hops.
