Beer Pro

Name: Charlie Stahmer

Date Started: March, 2019

What got you interested in Beer: I started with a distributor young, at 21, and was for a time just interested in regular domestics and having fun with beer.  It was through working with supplier reps and trying new craft and imported beers that got me actually interested in beer.  Learning through passionate people and tasty brews grew my love and appreciation for various styles and the overall craft of brewing.

What is your favorite beer: This wild world of craft beer has left me with a nowadays generic answer of there is just too many beers to choose from to have a favorite.  It’s always changing.  But honestly I do bounce around quite a bit, I’ve always been a huge fan of sours, IPA’s, and its pretty hard for me to find a beer that I really cannot enjoy.  For right now my go to is a classic, Krombacher Pils, because I feel like I can drink a one at just about any time and be completely satisfied by it.  But if you’re gonna upgrade to a pilsner on another level you need to try and unfiltered Pilsner Urquell (probably the favorite of the style).

What makes Beerhead special:  The concentration on craft and import.  Beerhead prioritizes quality products and allows me the opportunity to work with brands that may otherwise be overlooked in the area we are located.  This particular Beerhead will hopefully serve as an agent of change in a neighborhood of Chicago that has previously avoided quality craft and imports to make room for an overabundance of domestic premium brands.

What would you like the world to know about Beerhead: Even if you don’t think you like beer, we can find a beer you can enjoy.

Anything else quirky and fun: Best time I can have is biking to and from breweries.  My fiance and I have ridden from Chicago to Traverse City before just to brewery hop up Michigan and really earn our beers.

Favorite food to eat with Beer: Burgers.
